The new IPCC report came out this week. In the report it states that if fossil fuels burn at the rate they currently are without change we will (for sure) reach the 1.5 degree Celsius limit by 2040, set by the Paris climate agreement.
This upper bound in temperature marks the beginning of irreversible high temperatures across the globe which will spark natural disasters around the world.
That said the report stated that if society cuts its fossil fuel production in half starting now we could avoid our temperature limit.
