Canada’s first national youth climate lawsuit- October 25th, 2019
Over the past year, Greta Thunberg has inspired millions to strike for climate action. Tomorrow, she’ll be with in Vancouver, as we hear a major announcement from a few more youth voices here at home.
Fifteen young Canadians from Vancouver Island to the Northwest Territories to Nova Scotia will file a lawsuit against the federal government for contributing to high levels of greenhouse gas emissions and dangerous climate change, affecting their well-being and quality of life.
If this lawsuit succeeds, the Court will order the federal government to implement a credible, science-based climate recovery plan consistent with what scientists say is needed to stabilize the climate system and protect the health and well-being of our children and grandchildren.
