A loggerhead turtle trapped in an abandoned net would have been dead in days if not found by photographer Jordi Chias. The turtle’s story is but one of millions. Every minute, about a dump truck load of plastic goes into the oceans, scattered on beaches, threatening marine species, and causing hundreds of thousands of casualties. By 2050, our oceans could contain more plastics than fish.
This loggerhead turtle is not a snapshot of a species in crisis, it is representative of our oceans as a whole: trapped and in desperate need of help. Reducing your plastic usage and encouraging others to do the same is a way that you can contribute. What will your legacy be?
